Rain Stick inspired by Native American Craft Kit

December 12 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Kids Fun Zone presents Craft Kits, offering free art activities to explore new ways of self-expression. A new craft is released on the second Saturday of every month. Follow us on Instagram (@crenshawimperialplaza) to get schedule of activities.

Kids Fun Zone’s mission is to introduce creative outlets for the children in the communities we serve. Offering art, introductory classes to gardening, yoga, music production and other creative outlets. Due to COVID-19, we have directed classes to Instagram and with at home craft kits. An exciting new craft is announced every month with an instructional video released on IGTV (@crenshawimperialplaza). Craft kits are limited, and reservations are suggested. We look forward to seeing your art, share your final pieces with us by using #KFZCraftKit.

December’s craft kit is creating rain sticks inspired by Native American tradition. The Native Americans used rain sticks to call on the rain to come. The sound of the rainstick mimicks the sound of rain falling onto the earth. Since a lot of Native Americans lived in dry desert lands, they used the rain stick to call on the rain for their crops, animals and thirst.

Inside your kit, you will also find a raffle ticket for a chance to win a gift card! We will be announcing the winner at 2pm on Saturday December 12 through our Instagram. Be sure to follow us.
